Formerly Homeschool Nature Series. Students will enjoy meeting our ambassador animals, performing hands-on labs and engaging in interactive lessons where we go in-depth on a range of animal topics! Senior Zoo School is 2 hours, 1:00pm – 3:00pm.
Week 1: Tiny Transformations, October 4
Dive into the fascinating world of animal life cycles with “Tiny Transformations!” This interactive zoo program is designed for children to explore how animals grow and change from birth to adulthood. Through engaging activities, hands-on exhibits and up-close animal encounters, children will learn about the different stages of life in various species. From eggs to adulthood, discover how animals adapt and thrive in their environments.
Week 2: Frightening Fauna, October 18
Brave the spooky side of the animal kingdom in ‘Frightening Fauna!’ Meet some of nature’s most intriguing and eerie animals. Learn about their amazing adaptations and why they’re not as scary as they seem. With spooky stories and cool crafts, you’ll uncover the truth behind these fascinating creatures.
Week 3: From Bloom to Frost, November 8
Join us for a magical journey through the changing seasons! In ‘From Bloom to Frost,’ you’ll discover how our animal friends and plants adjust from the warmth of spring to the chill of winter. Explore how colors, behaviors and habitats transform and take part in fun activities and crafts that showcase the beauty of seasonal change.
Week 4: Hungry Bears & Autumn Appetites, November 22
Get ready for a bear-sized adventure in ‘Hungry Bears & Autumn Appetites!’ Learn how animals prepare for winter and survive colder months. You’ll find out why they’re so hungry and how they get ready to hibernate or brumate. Meet our zoo animals, enjoy interactive games and even make a tasty treat for your furry friends!
Week 5: The Tangled Web of Life, December 13
Dive into ‘The Tangled Web of Life,’ where you’ll unravel the mysteries of food webs and ecosystems! Discover how plants, animals and insects are all connected in a big, beautiful web of life. Through fun games and hands-on activities, you’ll see how every creature plays a special role in nature’s intricate balance.
