Admissions Clerk

Want to work with a dynamic team focused on animal welfare, conservation, and education? Join our Guest Relations Team as a Admissions Clerk. This position includes, but is not limited to the following responsibilities.

  • Actively welcoming and engaging our guests.
  • Processing admission fees and/or membership fee for guests.
  • Sharing information about our Zoo and answering basic questions for guests.

Starting pay for this position is $15/hour. Our Admission Clerk position is not limited to the tasks listed and may be required to perform additional tasks as assigned by the Guest Relations Supervisor or other Austin Zoo Management. The ideal candidate would have a positive attitude, excellent guest relations expertise, strong interpersonal skills and also be eager to put your passion for animals to work!

Feeding Area Monitor

Want to work with a dynamic team focused on animal welfare, conservation, and education? Join our Guest Relations Team as a Feeding Area Monitor. This position entails:

  • Actively engaging our guests in a friendly, professional manner. Speaking to strangers comfortably is a must.
  • Monitoring our feeding area by frequently walking the area to ensure safety for our animals and guests.
  • Selling animal feed to guests.
  • Shifts include working outside in all weather conditions including rain as well as low and high temperatures.

Starting pay for this position is $15/hour. Our Feeding Area Monitor position is not limited to the tasks listed and may be required to perform additional tasks as assigned by the Guest Relations Supervisor or other Austin Zoo Management. The ideal candidate would have a positive attitude, excellent guest relations expertise, strong interpersonal skills and also be eager to put your passion for animals to work!

Gift Shop Associate

Want to work with a dynamic team focused on animal welfare, conservation, and education? Join our Guest Relations Team as a Gift Shop Associate. This position entails:

  • Actively welcoming and engaging our guests.
  • General maintenance of our Gift Shop which includes sweeping, stocking our drink cooler, replenishing inventory and other duties as assigned.
  • Proficiency in processing credit card transaction and cash purchases.
  • Actively engaging our guests in a professional and friendly manner.

Starting pay for this position is $15/hour. Our Gift Shop Associate position is not limited to the tasks listed and may be required to perform additional tasks as assigned by the Guest Relations Supervisor or other Austin Zoo Management. The ideal candidate would have a positive attitude, excellent guest relations expertise, strong interpersonal skills and also be eager to put your passion for animals to work!

Custodian

Austin Zoo is currently looking for an individual with abundant energy to become a member of our Facilities team as a custodian. Love working outside? This is the perfect position for you! The candidate must be an individual who is meticulous and focuses on attention to detail. Self-motivation and dependability are crucial. The ability to follow instruction is imperative while work independently.  

Custodial responsibilities:

  •  Cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting restrooms throughout the day.
  •  Mowing, raking and weeding specific areas in the Zoo.
  •  Collecting trash throughout the Zoo and transporting to appropriate dumpsters.
  •  Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

  •  Must be able to lift 50 lbs. comfortably. 
  •  Must be able to walk or stand for an extended period of time. 
  •  Must be willing to work outside in any kind of weather. 
  •  The responsibilities of this position involve bending, crouching and kneeling. These are essential for a successful work experience. 

Terms of Employment:

  •  This is a full time position.
  •  Must be able to pass a basic security clearance.
  •  Candidate must be able to work Wednesday – Sunday.

Miniature Train Ride Engineer for TRACKS AND SNACKS

Tracks And Snacks in Austin, TX 210-6540811 is looking for Miniature Train Ride Engineers to drive the Austin Zoo train. Join our strong team!

We are located in the Austin Zoo Train Depot at 10808 Rawhide Trail. Our ideal candidate is attentive, punctual, reliable and engaged. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Driving the Austin Zoo Train
  • Ringing train tickets and concessions
  • Filling concessions as needed
  • Maintaining a clean train depot area

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must be able to get on and off the train repetitively, and with ease
  • Must be well groomed
  • Must be able to stand for at least 6 hours
