Austin Zoo is a great location for birthday parties for kids of all ages! Have an unforgettable, fun-filled day in our Picnic Area or in one of our three venues.

The birthday party admission rate is $9.95 per person, with a 15 person minimum, plus the cost for the venue you choose and any extras. Enjoy a casual outdoor party with picnic tables and plenty of space for games and activities, or select one of our charming venues on the zoo grounds for a more private and exclusive experience. Prices and amenities are listed below for each venue.
Picnic Grove
Enjoy a casual outdoor party with picnic tables and plenty of space for games and activities. In this space, you are welcome to stay all day and bring your decor* as well as food and beverages.
Pricing: This is our least expensive option with only a $50 deposit being required that is applied to the admission cost of your party.
Peacock Barn
The Peacock Barn is a covered space with approximately 6 picnic tables for seating. You are welcome to decorate* and bring in your own food and beverages.
Pricing: $75 per 2-hour time period. Ask us about our discounted pricing for weekdays, depending on the season.
Primate Pavilion
The Primate Pavilion is our largest covered event space with approximately 10 picnic tables for seating. You are welcome to decorate* and bring in your own food and beverages.
Pricing: $75 per 2-hour time period. Ask us about our discounted pricing for weekdays, depending on the season.
Events Pavilion
The Events Pavilion is an enclosed, temperature-controlled space with approximately 8-10 tables with chairs (max occupancy is 114). You are welcome to decorate* and bring in your own food and beverages.
Pricing: $150 per 2-hour time period, plus $100 refundable damage deposit. Ask us about our discounted pricing for weekdays, depending on the season.
*For the safety of our animals, we do not allow balloons as decor in any of the party venues, except for the enclosed Events Pavilion. We appreciate your understanding.
Let us help you plan an unforgettable birthday party or special event for your child at the Austin Zoo. Our all-inclusive packages for up to 20 attendees provide everything you need for a magical celebration:
- Admission for 20 and venue rental for 2 hours
- Animal Experience Presentation
- 20 zoo-themed invitations
- 20 zoo-themed goodie bags
- 10 animal feed bags to feed our friendly goats, sheep, alpacas, and llamas
- 1 child’s zoo pass for each child to return to the zoo on another day

- Events Pavilion Package $625.00 (an additional $100 damage deposit is required for this venue)
- Primate Pavilion Package $550.00
- Peacock Barn Package $550.00
Additional admissions can be purchased for $9.95 per person on the day of your party. Party Package events will not pay the $50 nonrefundable deposit. There are no refunds for unused admissions, goodie bags, invitations or any other part of the package. Book your party during the week to save some money! Events Pavilion Party Packages may take off $75 if booked for an event Monday-Friday. Primate Pavilion and Peacock Barn Party Packages may take off $37.50 if booked for an event Monday-Friday.

Additional services offered to make your party or event extra special:
Animal Feed Bags: Purchase multiple bags of animal feed to accent your party experience. For use only in our designated Animal Feeding Area for our goats, sheep, deer, alpacas and llamas.
Goodie Bags: For $5.00 each (plus tax). These animal print party favor bags include a variety of small Austin Zoo Gift Shop dollar items (5). We need a little time to get these items together, so make sure to request them at least 3 days in advance of your party!
- Animal Experience Presentation: A fun and educational animal experience for your party for $75.00. One of our staff educators will bring 2-3 of their animal ambassadors to your party to introduce them and answer questions. Recommended to book 2 weeks or more in advance. Animal Experiences are never guaranteed and subject to Education Department scheduling. Animal Experiences also require appropriate temperatures for outdoor venue spaces.
Venue Heaters: Have your party any time of the year, even during winter months! Propane heaters are now available for $25 each if you have a party scheduled in either the Primate Pavilion or Peacock Barn. Maximum 2 available for rent per venue. Please note that these heaters are not very useful on high-wind days.
Austin Zoo Grill: We have a charcoal grill available for $10 provided there is not a burn ban for our area. Please reserve ahead of time. You must supply your own charcoal and lighter.

What to Bring
A guest list must be provided when you arrive on the day of the party. This is how your guests will check in with us. A written guest list is how you tell us which guests you are agreeing to pay for to attend your party. You will not be charged for absent guests.
Food, drink and decor welcome! Austin Zoo does not provide any decorations or catering. Please, no glass containers. For the safety of our animals, we do not allow balloons as decor in any of the party venues, except for the enclosed Events Pavilion. We appreciate your understanding. We strongly recommend that you bring disposable, rectangular table coverings for the tables we provide in your venue. All food, drink, decorations and party favors must be kept in the assigned venue or Picnic Grove area.
Rescheduling & Cancellations
If you need to reschedule or cancel a reservation, please call 512-288-1490 as soon as possible. Austin Zoo welcomes rescheduling at any time without penalty, within one year of your party date. The $50.00 party deposit is non-refundable.
If you must cancel, 50% of the venue fee will be refunded if you cancel at anytime up to 14 days prior to your event date. No refunds will be given within 14 days of your event date.
Pricing Information
- One individual must pay the total bill to receive the discounted rate.
- Guests paying for their own admissions will be charged regular zoo admission prices.
- A $50.00 non-refundable admissions deposit is due at the time of booking for all party reservations. The $50.00 deposit will be applied to the total admission cost on the day of your party and any remaining totals will be due on the day of the event.
