Are you a kid who is wild about animals? Do you have a passion to explore the outdoors? Sign up for Austin Zoo summer camp! We offer 9 week-long camps that are geared for children ages 5-12. Registration is on a weekly basis. During these camps, your child will be busy exploring the animal kingdom through stories, games, experiments, crafts, interactive play, keeper chats and live animal encounters.
Zoo members exclusive presale begins on Feb. 25. Austin Zoo members will have a chance to register early for all Summer Zoo Camps. Spaces are limited.
Regular registration for Summer Zoo Camp will open on March 4.
New this year we will be offering a relaxed After-Care including quiet games, simple crafts, and educational videos from 4pm – 5pm.
The fees listed below are charged per camper, per week. Registration fees include guided Zoo tours, keeper chats, craft activities and a Summer Zoo Camp T-shirt (recommended to be worn daily). All campers will bring their own water bottles, snacks and lunch daily.
Non Members: $275
After care (4 to 5 p.m.): $40

Fur, Feathers, Scales, and Skin, Oh My!
Dates: June 3 – 7
What kinds of animals live at Austin Zoo? Throughout this week, campers will explore the Zoo and learn how scientists study them, and what makes each animal special.
If I Ran the Zoo
Dates: June 10 – 14
What would you include if you had your own zoo? We will explore Austin Zoo to learn why animals are in zoos and how to design exhibits to best take care of them. Campers will build model exhibits based on their zoo’s master plan.
We Built a Zoo
Dates: June 17 – 21
Learn what it takes to design a zoo exhibit. Learn to read simple blueprints, study animal behavior and anatomy in order to build a safe and effective zoo exhibit. Learn about the educational components and developmental process in creating zoo habitats. Participants will design their own exhibit and graphic signage and build an exhibit model.

Can birds count? Do capuchins use tools? Who taught prairie dogs to build underground towns? Campers will explore animal intelligence and design skills while creating their own art!
Dates: July 8 – 12
What do Superman, Wonder Woman, Mystique and Spiderman all have in common? Real animal talents inspire their super human powers. Participants will get to know Austin Zoo animals’ talents and create their own superheroes!
The Great Zoo Detective
Dates: July 15 – 19
Who dared to steal Aesa, the lioness’, favorite ball? Campers become detectives this week and use their senses and their science skills to solve this and many more animal mysteries.
Zoo Science Investigators
Dates: July 22 – 26
Learn to be a wildlife investigator as you use tracks, scat and forensic techniques to solve true to life mystery crimes! Campers will make and take home their own working foldable microscopes.
Dates: July 29 – August 2
It’s time to round up the zoo-sual suspects. Campers will examine the clues that animals leave behind to solve critter whodunits.
Dates: August 5 – 9
Let’s give back to the animals during this final week of camp! Campers’ creativity will be challenged engineering enrichment toys, puzzles and food treats that enhance the lives of our animals.
